The US-based tech giant Google has announced that the company will be working closely with the Indian Government and industry stakeholders towards developing responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI). Google will share its expertise and knowledge to create responsible AI.

Google expressed gratitude for the chance to meet with the government and industry stakeholders to discuss the development of safeguards for synthetic content.

“We appreciate the opportunity to meet with the government, jointly with industry stakeholders, to discuss the need to develop safeguards around synthetic content and share how we are building tools and guardrails to address associated risks,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement.

“We are committed to continue this collaboration and share our expertise and knowledge towards our collective goal of responsible AI development,” the spokesperson said.

Google is working on developing AI to maximize its positive impact on society while also addressing challenges, guided by its AI principles. The company is actively building tools and guardrails to prevent the misuse of technology and empower individuals to assess online information more effectively.

As per IANS, the company is investing in tools like watermarking and synthetic audio detection to help people safely identify content online. Google’s statement came after Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met representatives from large social media platforms and other stakeholders, saying the government will draft new rules to spot and limit the spread of deepfakes.

Google is reportedly developing artificial intelligence-based technology for its web browser, Chrome. On the Chrome Settings page, the “Advanced” (AI) section features a new option named “Context menu tab group.” This option allows users to enable or disable the “Organize tabs” feature.

According to a post on the social media platform X (previously called Twitter), a user named Leopeva64 mentioned that the development of the new settings pane is currently in progress. This settings menu is accessible only to specific testers, and users need to navigate through hidden developer flags to access it.
