Another useful feature makes its way to WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has doubled down on its spam protection efforts by allowing users to block users directly from the lock screen. Here’s how it works.
We have seen how big of a menace online scams can be. Not only are they increasing in frequency, but scammers are also finding new and elaborate ways to trick unsuspecting victims. Now, if you give it some thought, a huge chunk of such scams comes your way through apps like WhatsApp. However, Meta has worked on the platform over time and improved it.
And now, in the latest update, WhatsApp has doubled down on its spam protection efforts by allowing users to block users directly from the lock screen. The Meta-owned instant messaging app announced the same through a message sent from its official account.
This, in turn, saves time needed to block someone by helping you avoid various submenus and the unnecessary hassle of finding and opening a chat. This can also be particularly handy for those people who often receive a plethora of messages, as they would be able to block an account directly, without leaving. To enable this, users would need to update their WhatsApp app to the latest available version and allow notifications for pop-ups. This would result in enhanced spam protection, saving valuable time, and more.
To block someone from the lock screen: You need to be updated to the latest version and allow all notifications, and when a WhatsApp message pops up, you can tap the block option next to the reply button.
