Apple’s Tim Cook has spoken about AI and his views about its evolution and now he hints that AI will soon be part of iPhones for the users.

iPhone users could get generative AI features from Apple by next year. Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed his company’s plans in the AI arena during the investors call this week. ChatGPT has taken the world by storm since its official launch earlier this year and Apple is ready to enter the market but Cook says the company wants to make its push in AI responsibly.

The Apple chief has been openly sharing his views on AI and mentioned recently that the company has been working and investing in generative AI for years, something we also heard from Amazon during its recent AI event.

Google has already shown its AI chops on the Pixel 8 series and Samsung has some plans by joining hands with ChatGPT, Alexa and more on its flagship smartphones. But it is Apple that people are more eager to know about and Cook seems to have gotten everyone excited by his recent comments.

However, Apple feels the need to avoid the controversy around AI and which explains why it wants to be responsible with its AI efforts and it makes sense. Apple has also been extremely focused on privacy of users which makes it hard to train the AI models when the data is hard to come by which isn’t really an issue for other AI companies out there.

But make no mistake, all the companies will be keeping a close eye on Apple’s take on AI and how it plans to make it available for iPhone users, whenever it is ready to release it for the public, which could happen in 2024 or maybe in a few years time. There is no point rushing into the market with respect to AI, something that Google has repeatedly mentioned when quizzed about its plans to challenge Microsoft and ChatGPT.

This is unlikely to be the last time we hear Cook talk about generative AI. Rest assured the next Apple WWDC could be the platform where Apple could openly share its AI roadmap for years to come.
