Athar, who was doing commentary during today’s match, showered praise on Babar, highlighting his exceptional talent and contribution to the Rangpur Riders.
“I think for youngsters watching Babar Azam bat, it is a treat. It is very special. They’ll be glued to their TV just to watch him bat. He is one of the finest in the world. Such a great addition to the Rangpur Riders,” Athar Ali Khan said.
In today’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match against Dhaka, the 29-year-old once again demonstrated his significant contribution to his team, delivering a solid performance with a score of 47 runs from 43 deliveries, including five boundaries, at a commendable strike rate of 109.30.
The Rangpur Riders posted a total of 175 runs on the scoreboard, losing four wickets in the first innings. In response, Dhaka was dismissed for 115 runs within the 18th over.
Babar Azam currently holds the spot as the leading run-scorer in the ongoing BPL 2024 season. He has played six matches, accumulating 251 runs at an average of 50.20 and a strike rate of 114.61.
