It is not common for a political party to bring a resolution at its mega organization meeting against its opponent. But the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), at its national convention on Sunday, will be passing a resolution targeting the Congress, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive (INDI) alliance and their “frustration”, while predicting their resounding defeat in 2024. Union Home Minister Amit Shah could be moving this resolution.

‘Congress-Indi Gathbandan Ki Hatasha ki Rajneeti’ is what the resolution will be titled. BJP sources said it will be a scathing indictment of the Congress and the INDI alliance on account of their negativity, corruption, direction-less leadership and infighting. The resolution will highlight how the Congress is arrogant and is suffering from the ‘phobia’ of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is practising hollow idealism, while its entire top leadership is involved in the liquor scam. The resolution could also target the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for its remarks on ‘Sanatan Dharma’, which are hurting the country’s core traditions, and how the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has harboured violence against women in the state, like in the recent horrific incidents in Sandeshkhali.
Sources say the BJP could highlight how arrogant leaders of the Congress like Rahul Gandhi badmouth the country abroad and invite foreign interference in India’s affairs. The ruling party could also say that the Congress has always boycotted or opposed the glorious events in the past 10 years such as the implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), India getting its first tribal president in Droupadi Murmu and the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
The ‘corruption-laden and scam-filled’ United Progressive Alliance (UPA) era could also be highlighted by the BJP in its second resolution, along with current cases of corrupt activities ailing the Congress such as the recovery of huge cash in Jharkhand or the case of Mahadev App. The BJP’s resolution could highlight the way the Opposition has not let Parliament run and has not played a constructive role. The BJP may ask that while the Congress targets investigative agencies, it does not act against the corrupt in its ranks.
The BJP’s resolution will also highlight how the INDI alliance parties were practising the “politics of frustration” after realizing that they had no chance of winning against the Modi-led BJP. The resolution could also show how these opposition parties such as Congress, the DMK, RJD, Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party are typical examples of ‘dynastic politics’ and that they were allying out of ‘opportunism’ to take on the BJP. Sources say the resolution would also highlight how regional parties have realized the futility of the INDI alliance and are exiting the same in West Bengal and Punjab, while those from the ‘tukde-tukde’ gang of 2019 are now advisors to Congress.
The resolution could further say that Congress tried to deny the existence of Lord Ram and did not understand the national significance of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22. It could be said that while the entire country was celebrating the day, the Congress and its allies remained away due to unprincipled politics. The BJP could further say that Congress is not able to accept the truth of the construction of Ram Temple. The resolution will say Congress has slid to such an extent that its recovery is impossible.

The BJP could also highlight specific examples such as Congress leader DK Suresh asking for a separate country for South India, Congress expelling a Hindu saint Pramod Acharya after he attended Ram Temple ceremony, Congress leaders going to Pakistan and speaking against India, and Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary seeking Pakistan’s acceptance of abrogation of Article 370 in J&K. It could also highlight how Pakistan cited the statement of Rahul Gandhi (in favour of Article 370) in its dossier to the UN.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fixed a target of 370 seats for the BJP and 400 seats for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and predicted that the Congress would drop below 40 seats. “The INDI alliance parties came together a few months ago, but they have not been able to make any headway. Their main partner, Nitish Kumar, has left their side and joined the NDA. Jayant Chaudhary of the RLD has also left the side of INDI and joined the NDA camp. Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal have refused to tie up with the Congress in West Bengal and Punjab, respectively. What is even left of the INDI alliance?” a senior BJP leader told News18.
The BJP will say that Congress has never been able to tolerate a poor ‘chaiwala’ like Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Minister.
WHAT THE FIRST RESOLUTION SAID
The BJP highlighted its 10-year-record of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ in the first political resolution it presented at the national convention on Saturday. “Under the visionary leadership of PM Modi, India has emerged as a strong and capable nation with the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” it read.
The first resolution mentioned how the last 10 years have seen the realization of the ‘Ram Rajya’ and people of the nation have seen ‘Modi’s Guarantee’ reaching every home, including 25 crore people coming out of poverty. The BJP also said new dimensions of electoral successes were achieved in the past 10 years as part of the victory march of the party. The resolution mentioned the revocation of Article 370 in J&K, construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, abolition of triple talaq, implementation of GST, Citizenship Amendment Act, inauguration of a new Parliament House and installing a Sengol.

The resolution said tasks earlier considered impossible, like the Women’s Reservation Act, were also passed in the Modi government’s tenure, and it also mentioned the successful Chandrayaan-3 mission. It also mentioned the country’s recovery from the Covid pandemic.
“Today, when our PM Modi speaks, the whole world listens. Not only did the country’s economy break all records, it became more secure and decisive than before, it added a chapter in global leadership. Even a millennium from now, people will continue to discuss with fervor this timeless era under leadership of Modi,” the resolution read.
