IPS Officer Vikas Vaibhav did not directly answer whether he will be joining politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections given that more than 50,000 people had gathered for his campaign, but he stressed he ‘will change Bihar’ so that no youth has to leave the state for education and jobs
“There is only one resolution — rising above the caste and sect. Together, we will build the brightest future of Bihar based on the vision of our own ancestors,” said IPS officer Vikas Vaibhav at a rally in a college in Bihar’s Begusarai where more than 50,000 people had gathered for the ‘Let’s Inspire Bihar (LIB)’ campaign.
When News18 asked Vaibhav about the reason behind holding such a large gathering ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Vaibhav said the target of his campaign is to penetrate in all Panchayats of Bihar. “There are 75,000 members in the (LIB) campaign across the world. We have already done over 1,000 events. But the members and events were based in urban areas. To connect with the rural people, this kind of event should be held in all 38 districts of Bihar; next one is in Arrah on January 24”.
On his intention to join politics, Vaibhav said, “Good people should join politics because only honest people coming into politics won’t bring any change. People should equally participate and their role is crucial. So it’s important for good people to join hands with one aim of making Bihar a developed state and bring its glory back”.
Vaibhav said the number of youth below 30 years of age in Bihar is 9 crore. If the power of youth is utilised to the optimum, then the prosperity of Bihar cannot be stopped.
The firebrand IPS officer took a pledge in the city situated on the banks of Ganga and the birthplace of poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar that “I will revive the land of my ancestors, I will change Bihar…will definitely restore Bihar by 2047 where no person needs to go anywhere else for education or employment”.
About the Campaign
Explaining further the aim of his campaign, Vaibhav said education and entrepreneurship are two of the focal areas that will help make an egalitarian society. “We have Gargi chapters running across Bihar, which impart education facilities free of cost to the underprivileged children. We have hundreds of skilled entrepreneurs who are guiding the youth to develop skills and become self-reliable. Our target is to make five successful entrepreneurs from each district”.
Why Vaibhav can be an important factor for LS Polls 2024?
Having a Sangh background, Vaibhav may contest the Lok Sabha polls in 2024 on a BJP ticket, as per some speculations. He is a firebrand IPS officer of Bihar with a clean image. Born in Begusarai, he could be a strong contender of a BJP ticket from there. He belongs to the Bhumihar community, which is in majority in the region. He is famous and a prominent face among youths. This makes it easier for him to garner huge crowd during campaigning.
He could be a strong candidate against JDU president Lalan Singh from Munger constituency or his home turf Begusarai. With thousands of active members of LIB across Bihar and abroad, his idea of developed Bihar doesn’t restrict him to just one constituency.
