CBC’s special coverage of former prime minister Brian Mulroney’s lying-in-state at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building on Wellington Street in Ottawa begins 9:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, March 19 in Ottawa. Here’s how you can follow along:

The special starts at 9:00 a.m. ET and ends at 12:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Public access to the event begins at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Order of events on Tuesday, March. 19:
- The funeral cortege will arrive at the Sir John A. Macdonald Building at 9:30 a.m.
- Family members will be greeted by the Speaker of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Commons.
- The casket, draped with the Canadian flag, will be carried through the main doors on Wellington St. by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police bearer party, who will be followed by the Mulroney family.
- Once inside the ballroom, family members will have a private moment with the casket that will be closed to media.
- A vigil at the casket will feature one Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member, one RCMP member, two members of the Parliamentary Protective Service, one vigil commander and one sentinel-in-waiting, both from the CAF.
- From 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the family will receive condolences from dignitaries beginning with Gov. Gen. Mary Simon and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Mulroney will also lie in state in Ottawa on March 20 from from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. before being moved to Montreal, where he will lie in repose at Saint Patrick’s Basilica, on René-Lévesque Blvd West, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on March 21, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 22.
The funeral ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montréal. It’s expected to last two hours.
