The long wait of the cricket fans has finally ended as the star-studded opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 kicked off at Gaddafi Stadium.

The glittering opening ceremony of this year’s extravaganza embarked with renowned artist Natasha Baig singing the national anthem of Pakistan.

Following the national anthem, folk singer Arif Lohar delivered an energetic performance to ignite the passion of the attendees.

Following this, iconic singer Ali Zafar alongside Aima Baig, who performed this year’s PSL anthem Khul Ke Khel, will be performing the anthem live in the PSL 9 opening ceremony.

Furthermore, several other artists including the likes of Noori will also perform in the opening ceremony.

The spectators can also witness fireworks and an enthralling laser show.

The PSL 9 will be played in four cities – Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi – with the final of the six-team tournament taking place at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on 18 March.

Over the course of the 34-match tournament, Karachi will host 11 matches, including the Qualifier, two Eliminators and the final.

Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi’s Pindi Cricket Stadium will each host nine matches, while fans in Multan, the city of saints, will witness five matches.

In the curtain raiser, defending champions Lahore Qalandars will take on two-time champions Islamabad United.

The two sides locked horns 17 times in the PSL history with the United boasting a dominant record with nine victories.

But the Qalandars have an upper hand in their home ground against the United while possessing a perfect record in the last five faceoffs.
