Rajasthan Election 2023

The Prime Minister is trying to mislead and instigate the Gujjar community by dragging in the name of the late Rajesh Pilot, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said in response to a question from News18 on Thursday.

PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday had said the Congress was punishing Sachin Pilot as his father had once taken on the top Congress leadership by contesting for the post of the Congress President.

“BJP is so nervous that they have dragged in the late Rajesh Pilot. They are trying to bhadkao (instigate) Gujjars. It is their party government that had opened firing on Gujjars in which so many Gujjars were killed and their government was changed because of that,” the CM told News18.

“We gave Gujjars 5% reservation. In my time, forget firing, there was not even a lathicharge. I know they are trying to mislead Gujjars but you can go ask Gujjar families how they got jobs under my rule as I gave them reservation,” the CM responded to News18.

He added that such tactics of the BJP will not work in eastern Rajasthan and showed the desperation of the BJP in these elections.

Sachin Pilot has also dismissed the PM’s statement, saying no one should be concerned about his future.

“The truth is that (Rajesh) Pilot joined the Congress after taking inspiration from Indira Gandhi. He served the people for a long time while being in the Congress. Regarding his (PM’s) remarks on me, I believe no one, except my party and people, should care about my present and future.”
