Former Pakistan cricket captain, Shahid Afridi, has vehemently denied recent claims made by a local media channel suggesting that he is advocating for Shaheen Afridi to lead the Pakistan cricket team in the near future.

During a recent interview with a local media news channel, Afridi expressed his frustration with the misleading information being circulated.

“I was scrolling through my Twitter, and I saw that now they’re running something with my name that Shahid Afridi stated, in my opinion, Shaheen Afridi can lead the team better than Babar Azam, Lahore Qalandars won a PSL trophy under his captaincy,” Afridi clarified, laughing off the misinformation.

The former all-rounder went on to express his confusion and dissatisfaction regarding how certain statements are beigng portrayed by the media.

“I don’t understand why they are saying such things, even though I express my views on Samaa. I share my perspective on Samaa, but they interpret it in their own way. Although I am the only person who keeps Shaheen away from the captaincy,” he concluded.

It is worth noting  that specific local media sources are asserting that Shaheen Afridi may assume the role of vice-captain in the ODI and T20I team, replacing Shadab Khan. However, there is no substantiated evidence for this claim, given that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not made any official declaration regarding the matter.
