Truecaller AI Assistant: This new artificial intelligence feature will now attend calls for you

[ad_1]

Most of the mobile phone users across the country receive spam and fraudulent calls almost every day. Artificial Intelligence may prove to be a long-term solution to avoid unwanted calls. In a new development, Truecaller, a Sweden-based caller identification application, has launched its AI-backed ‘Truecaller Assistant’ in India.

The new feature enables the virtual ‘call assistant’ to attend calls on the user’s behalf, filtering out spam and fraudulent calls.

How Truecaller AI assistant works

The ‘Truecaller Assistant’ capitalises on machine learning to respond to calls by efficiently screening all numbers and isolating spammers. Initially, the AI assistant will offer support in English, Hindi, and ‘Hinglish’— a blend of Hindi and English, which caters to a broader user base in India.

As the assistant interacts with the caller, users can view a real-time transcription of the conversation, thereby understanding the identity of the caller and the purpose of the call. Users can then choose to join the call with a simple tap or label it as spam, depending on their discretion.

“We’ve always been able to inform you about your caller’s identity, but now, the Truecaller Assistant can even converse with your caller on your behalf,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director, India, at Truecaller.

This development, he believes, marks an “exciting progression” for the company as it further assists users in avoiding spam and hoax calls.

Availability of Truecaller AI

The feature, which has already made its debut in the United States and Australia, offers personalisation options to users, including the choice of assistants with varying accents, intonations, and styles such as professional, friendly, or courteous. The company elaborates that the ‘Truecaller Assistant’ exemplifies an innovation that synergises machine learning and cloud telephony to deliver an effective call-screening solution. “The Assistant responds swiftly and comprehends your caller with remarkable precision,” the company noted in a statement.

Initially, users will be granted a 14-day free trial of the ‘Truecaller Assistant,’ after which they will need to subscribe to the Truecaller Premium Assistant plan to continue availing of this service. This initiative aligns with Truecaller’s commitment to enhancing the user experience and further securing the communication landscape. As of now, this functionality is exclusively accessible to Android users.
