YouTube is making thins more flexible for creators.

YouTube has introduced the ability to pause the comments section without getting rid of the ones already posted. Here’s how it works.

YouTube comments are an interesting place to be. Not only do creators receive feedback for their content, but you also get to know the varied opinions of people about a said topic. However, sometimes, moderation becomes a definite necessity.

Now, the video giant has introduced the ability to pause the comments section without getting rid of the ones already posted. Simply put, users will still be able to see the comments that have already been added but won’t be able to add new ones.

This essentially allows two things:

– Provides better flexibility about how YouTubers manage their comments.

– Allows a break from moderating the comments if creators want without turning comments off altogether.

Prior to this update, YouTube Creators had to either fully disable the comments section or hold comments for review before publishing them. But, this new feature allows creators to select ‘Pause’ in video-level comments settings, found in the watch page in the YouTube app or Studio on desktop or mobile.

Furthermore, YouTube has also renamed some of the settings to simplify things. “We’re simplifying the organization and naming of certain comment settings to make it easier for you to use our comment moderation tools if you wish to,” the company notes.

In related news, YouTube, earlier this month announced new policies that will require creators to disclose when they have produced altered or synthetic content that appears realistic, including the use of generative AI tools. These policies also include measures for the removal of deepfakes.

“Generative AI has the potential to unlock creativity on YouTube and transform the experience for viewers and creators on our platform. But just as important, these opportunities must be balanced with our responsibility to protect the YouTube community,” YouTube said in a blog post.
